In addition to the occassional bit of knowledge sharing, I also do a bit of freelance application development as Doug Dossett, LLC in my off hours. As I do have a full time job, I'm only able to take on limited and select clients for development projects. If you've got a small - medium web application, web site or mobile application you need help with, or a larger application or site that you're not in a rush to finish, check out my prices and experience and contact me if you're interested in doing business.
I have over 15 years of professional experience developing web sites and web applications. Most of my most recent development (in the last 11+ years) has been primarily using Microsoft .NET and related technologies. In addition, I'm proficient with classic ASP, PHP and Perl. I do my best to be sure my sites are modern in appearance and functionality (XHTML, Ajax, CSS) while still trying to maintain a wide range of support for multiple operating systems and browsers. In addition to my development experience, I also maintain web servers, can develop and manage databases, manage MOSS 2007 and WSS 3.0 sites, and a number of other content management systems. Last, I am also a certified ScrumMaster, which means I'm trained in managing projects using agile methodologies to provide you with working software early and often. With this broad range of experience, I'm typically able to provide complete end to end services, from developing your application to maintaining the systems that run it. For further information on my experience, please feel free to review my resume.
Because I can offer a broad range of services, as well as varying levels of programming expertise, I choose not to provide "packaged" solutions. Instead, I would be happy to provide an initial consultation to help determine your project's approximate cost. The initial consultation, for up to an hour, is free of charge as I believe it is important for both of us to have the opportunity to see if I am the right developer for you. Additional time needed beyond the first hour will be charged at my standard hourly rate.
My standard rate is $125 per hour. When working on a project with a set number of hours, I require 1/3 payment up front, 1/3 at an agreed upon milestone in the project and the remaining 1/3 upon completion. For hourly projects, a mutually agreeable payment plan will be worked about before the project begins. I do also give discounts for full upfront payment.
I look forward to the opportunity to discuss your project with you!
